GABRIELA Women’s Party Representative Liza Largoza Maza today called on the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) to publish the list of names of governors who received the funds and how much each person received last October 11 in Malacanang.
“The League of Provinces of the Philippines owes it to the public and their constituents to publish an accounting of how much exactly were given to every single governor who received these so called financial assistance for capability building projects,” said Maza who noted that if this was a regular practice of the LPP, then a public accounting of the funds should also be in order.
“Since when has this been a practice of the LPP? Does the LPP have a system of reporting for the implementation of these capability building projects? What is the source of these funds, and if they were private donations, who are their donors?” asked Maza.
The GABRIELA solon said that “In the spirit of transparency and public accountability, the LPP should divulge the details of these funds. Unless a public accounting of these cash gifts has been given, we have every reason to believe that their owning up to the distribution of cash gifts is all hogwash and a big cover-up.” #
