GABRIELA Women’s Party Representative Liza Largoza Maza expressed today her sympathy and condolences to the victims of the Glorietta bombing yesterday as she called for utmost vigilance and sobriety.
“We condemn the Glorietta bombing in the strongest possible terms. It is a wake up call for vigilance and cooperation. But let us not allow this unfortunate incident to divert us from important issues of governance as it may have been intended to,” said Maza.
The GABRIELA solon warned the public not to submit to paranoia that the Arroyo regime could use to mobilize police and armed forces for a crackdown against those calling for Mrs. Arroyo to resign.
“We are alarmed and very much wary over the impeccable timing of the incident in the light of snowballing calls for Mrs. Arroyo to resign. We call on the public for utmost vigilance, as there may be no stopping the Arroyo regime from using this unfortunate incident to declare a state of emergency and crackdown on the opposition. Such terror is the work of dictators,” said Maza.
“We demand that a speedy and impartial investigation of the incident is conducted to help ensure that justice is immediately served.” #
